Rice Box Kitchen is a spot in downtown Reno where Asian fusion flavors come together in thoughtfully crafted dishes that feel like they balance comfort with a touch of adventurousness. The restaurant leans into dishes rooted in Southeast Asian street food and home-style cooking—think poached chicken over fragrant coconut-ginger rice or a warming bowl of Khao Soi with its rich, aromatic coconut curry broth. It’s the kind of place you drop by if you want something more substantial than a quick bite but still casual and unpretentious.

The interior has a modern, clean vibe with small touches that clearly appeal to local regulars as much as visitors passing through. This creates a welcoming energy without feeling overly styled or staged—good for those who want to linger over their meal without distractions. Diners often mention the laid-back yet attentive service, which makes it easy to settle in whether you're flying solo or with a small group.

Rice Box Kitchen’s menu includes a nice spread of drinks ranging from floral teas like chrysanthemum and hibiscus to the classic Vietnamese iced coffee, refreshing choices that complement the savory dishes well. There’s also a more playful side with offerings like mochi bars for dessert, which adds a sweet note to round off the meal without being heavy.

Visitors looking for something closer to authentic Asian comfort food with a slight twist will find this place hits the mark. The menu features comforting classics with a focus on rice bowls that come with flavorful proteins and sauces, giving a satisfying, well-rounded meal. The dim sum options, including a variety of fried and steamed bites, have also drawn previously long-distance fans of the style, making it more accessible locally than before.

This spot works best for a midday or early evening meal, especially if you’re in town looking for a well-prepared dish that doesn’t feel overly formal. It also appeals to those who appreciate mixing the familiar with a little culinary exploration, served in a setting that blends casual dining with touches of neighborhood personality. Whether you're recovering from a late night or fueling up for a day ahead, this kitchen seems ready to deliver warmth and flavor without pretense.

First time eating here on the way to SLC. We are so satisfied with the service and the taste of the food! We ordered KHAO MUN GAI and KHAO MOO DANG. Will definitely come back if we drive pass Reno again.

Definitely the best dimsum I’ve had in town! We used to have to go all the way to sacramento for dimsum so I’m so glad they start doing dimsum here. The set high tea menu is actually kinda fun and comes with a nice variety of dimsum items. My favorite is probably the Siumai and the porridge that come with Chinese fried dough. The first time I ever had mimosa with dimsum but surely won’t be the last. Totally would recommend, we actually are coming back for hotpot later next week.

This place has a great atmosphere and service. Only issue I had was that there were too many fried dim sum compared to steamed. Everything did taste great, and the lychee pineapple sangria was awesome!

The remedy for a hangover! Great food, everyone was super nice too. Got the Thai boat noodle with extra noodles. Also had some extra chili thrown in to kick it up. Yum! Check em out!

The interior is definitely very cute and modern. Even though it’s our first time here, we could tell there were quite a couple of regulars in the restaurant. We liked what we have ordered overall. I really enjoyed the garlic sauce for the chicken rice I ordered. The only thing I like a bit less would definitely be the takeaway boxes they use even though we were dining in…

We went here pretty late at night and was one of the options still open in Reno City. The food was good and a bit spicy. We ordered one of Tofu rice which was on the dry side having rice and tofu with no gravy to accompany but a sauce instead with some salad. TomYum noodles instead had gravy in the dish and was tasty and spicy. We ended up mixing rice with it. Good service and polite staff eager to help the customers.

Went for the hot pots on Wednesday night and had an awesome time. In our group of four I was the only vegetarian, but it worked nice because they can split the pot so you can cook different things/do different broth. I loved it because it’s more of a novel dining experience and very much family style/social. Happy to see Reno is finally getting some more experience based dining. The spicy broth had a pretty solid kick to it and was very tasty. Overall we all had an amazing time and would definitely be back, and super want to do their tea time on Sundays!

Rice Box Kitchen never disappoints! The food is absolutely delicious, with every dish bursting with flavor and freshness. The owner, Perapol and his team are all so welcoming and friendly! The new location next to the Discovery Museum is fantastic—perfect for grabbing a bite after exploring the exhibits. And as a huge bonus, there is plenty of parking. Highly recommend for a delightful dining experience!
